European project partnerships
Fabrica has a long and successful track record in delivering European-funded, cross-border collaboration projects as part of the Interreg funding stream with a variety of partners in France and Belgium.
These projects typically focus on exhibitions, artists’ professional development and mobility, sharing best practice in education and audience development.
Some of Fabrica’s most popular and memorable exhibitions have come about through these partnerships. For example Stéphane Cauchy was an artist that we were aware of from the early days of working with galleries in Lille, whose career and work we followed and who eventually made the work Cascade for us in 2011.
Working in partnership is always valuable, with different organisational cultures providing opportunities to learn but we have found this to be even more so in collaboration with partners overseas where genuine cultural differences provide very rich ground for the sharing of practice and development of new and exciting ideas.
At the end of our most recently completed project, Landscape, Cities, People we made this film which documents some of the work done in the Developing Local Audiences strand of the project. This is an excellent example of the kind of work that happens that is often less visible than the exhibitions but equally important.
