Thomas Nicholson

Your name:
Thomas Nicholson.

How long have you been at Fabrica?
Since March 2015.

What have you been doing at Fabrica?
Front of House and event’s volunteer.

What are your reasons for volunteering with us?
Personal experience, to meet new people and I love being around art!

What do you hope to get out of it?
Meet new people, boost my C.V and to learn.

What is your most memorable experience while volunteering with Fabrica?
Just generally interacting with the public and the art is always amazing!

Who is your favourite artist? (at Fabrica or personal?)
Anish Kapoor (Fabrica), David Hockney, Sigmar Polke, Francis Bacon, Damien Hirst, Patrick Caulfield and Gary Hume (Personal).

Favourite Exhibition? (at Fabrica or personal?)
Cascade – Stéphane Cauchy – Fabrica.
Hello, My Name is Paul Smith – London Design Museum.

What artwork would you put in the gallery if you had free rein?
Something Big Brother-esque. A person (maybe even me?) in a space representing personal surroundings. I think interacting with the public in experimental ways would be really interesting. I’m also interested in what it would do to the main individual and how the piece would develop or be documented. I’ll produce an exhibition plan and pitch it one day!

Why should anyone thinking of volunteering with Fabrica get involved?
It’s really good fun and the whole team are amazing and friendly. You’ll learn tons too!

What do you do when you’re not volunteering with us?
I organise gigs, big and small. I exhibit as a visual artist. I watch rap videos on Youtube too much, and I’ve been addicted to badminton recently.
