Artist Talk

Sam & George Smith

Archive Events & Talks (15 August 2017, 3.30pm - 5.00pm)
Sam and George Smith’s work appeared in the acclaimed group show In the Realm of Others, which featured the work of fourteen neurodiverse artists and makers and was shown at De La Warr Pavilion in 2015.
Sam’s vast vibrant squeeze paintings capturing moments of intense visceral action are his signature work, made in swift and impulsive, yet considered moves. George is Sam Smith’s slightly older brother. He works on mid-scale canvases using a brush to apply paint once in while throughout the day, often sitting next to a canvas for a long time before making a mark.

Sam and George Smith live with their mother, writer, Charlotte Moore near Hastings. They work with Project Art Works on a weekly basis and have been involved in various PAW programmes over a number of years.

George and Sam have limited verbal communication and will be supported in their presentation by Charlotte Moore and Kate Adams, Director of Project Art Works.
