with Foka Wolf and Pattern Up

Foka Wolf will discuss their artistic approach and the background of being commissioned by the University of Birmingham and Changing Our Lives for this exhibition. For the event the artist will be joined by creatives from Brighton-based collective, Pattern Up, who share Foka Wolf’s striking visual approach to addressing critical social issues through satirical commentary and campaigning to provoke a response and inspire change. Largely operating outside of traditional arts funding and institutions Pattern Up and Foka Wolf have chosen to develop their creative careers using a different economic model that relies on a strong social media following and an unmediated relationship with their audiences and collectors.
The talk will be hosted by Liz Whitehead, Co-Director at Fabrica.
From 8 - 10 pm, there will be an opportunity to explore the exhibition and enjoy a drink in the company of Fabrica staff and the artists. Entry to just this part of the evening is free, but booking is recommended.

About The Artist
For those familiar with Birmingham's street art scene, Foka Wolf is synonymous with scathing but comic social commentary. His subversive spoof ads, posted on hoardings, windows, and walls, are used to highlight political and social issues, making him a distinctive and influential voice in contemporary street art. Through his clever and daring works, Foka Wolf not only entertains but also encourages a deeper examination of the world around us.
