Creative Action is a weekend film festival that includes: a screening programme of four cross-global features, a Brighton International Animation Festival partnership programme of international animated shorts, three inspiring and creative film workshops and a special real-life kickboxing demonstration.
The festival programme repositions action films from across the globe and across the ages by focusing on the artistry in action, showcasing the beauty of movement and creativity of stunts and combat. Readdressing the male dominated focus of action films, all features will showcase powerful female leads such as Franka Potente as Lola, Zhang Ziyi as Mei, and Meiko Kaji as Akemi, performing breath-taking action sequences.
Run Lola Run / 1998 / 1hr&20mins / Rated 15
I don’t believe in trouble, I don’t believe in pain, I don’t believe there’s nothing left but running here again.
Destiny, and the way we influence it, the "butterfly effect" is the theme of the pacey feature. Lola has just 20 minutes to save her boyfriend, Manni. At 12:00 noon, he has to make a payoff of 100,000 Deutschmarks to his underworld boss. We see three possible scenarios, depending on Lola's encounters.
Exhilarating running scenes with throbbing relentless techno soundtrack plugs the audience into each moment of action. Franka Potente is a bright red haired force across the screen.
This project is possible with support of the BFI Film Audience Network, awarding funds from the National Lottery in order to bring this project to more audiences across the UK
