Fabrica’s main art space is a glorious environment for thinking and sharing. It has a calm, expansive atmosphere in which to experiment with all kinds of drawing.
Artist Jane Fordham has worked within this space for many years and choreographs drawing sessions in the familiar surroundings, moving things around the gallery, using the character of the building, found objects as props and adapting to the seasonally changing light.
Jane works with the group as a whole and with individuals more specifically. As a group they focus on different themes or processes for each set of sessions, within that loose structure she spends time with individuals on their own aims, interests and Interpretations.
An area for people to take a break from their work when they need to is provided, along with a library of books to look through that is replenished each week. When appropriate a table of shared experimental materials or shared making space is also provided.
There is always freshly made filter coffee, a variety of teas and biscuits for when an energy boost is needed.
The group is formed of people who like to work alongside others, there is a culture of peer learning and peer support that we all thrive on. The group ranges from experienced artists to beginners, every one interested in experimentation and exploration is warmly welcomed to these sessions.
Cartridge paper is on sale at cost price if required, or participants may bring their own. Sketch books are strongly encouraged.
