György Ligeti’s Poème Symphonique (1962)

Inspired by the Fluxus movement, Ligeti’s piece uses 100 mechanical metronomes. Poème Symphonique performed by members of Music of our Time (MOOT). MOOT is a Brighton-based organisation devoted to promoting innovative new music. The artistic director is Norman Jacobs.
The Hungarian composer’s music is widely known since it features in three of director Stanley Kubrick's films, including 2001: A Space Odyssey, plus more recent films such as Heat and The Hurt Locker.
