Holy Mountain presented in partnership with Fresh Perspectives

Archive Film at Fabrica (26 August 2021, 7.00pm - 10.30pm)
The Holy Mountain, selected by Fresh Perspectives in response to Fabrica’s exhibition, Kiosk by Wolfgang Weileder.
The Holy Mountain (Spanish: La montaña sagrada) is a 1973 Mexican surreal - fantasy film directed, written, produced, co-scored, co-edited by and starring Alejandro Jodorowsky, who also participated as a set designer and costume designer on the film.

Counteracting the calmness of Kiosk, The Holy Mountain gives at times a confounding and disturbing experience, filled with alchemical illusions, tarot symbols, existential ideas, explicit gore and violence, gratuitous nudity, sacrilegious imagery, and perverse beauty. A free quickfire Tarot card reading will be offered as part of the pre-screening experience to explore this angle of the film.
