Returning due to popular demand the Church of Italo are thrilled to bring you Martyrs and Mystics!
A collaborative fashion show and intimate queer disco party in one of Brighton’s most beautiful churches, Fabrica. With local queer djs bringing you Milano Ballroom, Italo Disco, House, Electronica and Techno throughout the night alongside an immersive high-fashion runway with prizes for the best dressed.
Combining Catholic excess with continental moods and the best of queer creativity, come and join us on November 25th. Think Vatican meets Balenciaga at Studio 54. La Dolce Vita to a HI-NRG beat. The love-child of Raffaella Carra and Thierry Mugler presiding over high-mass in a New York Warehouse. The Pope and MYSS KETA lipsyncing to Amanda Leer.
Dress to impress: dress to excess. Take your inspiration this month from the holy host of Martyrs and Mystics. Fall into a religious ecstasy with Saint Teresa, wear your skin “just so” like Saint Bartholomew, or serve eyes along with sass in the manner of our very own Saint Lucy. Or interpret the brief in whichever manner you so desire and flaunt yourself on the runway with a look of your own making.
All attendees are welcome to walk the runway to show off their looks to our very special celebrity judges, the mothers of our respective houses, and to compete for a range of fabulous prizes, including prizes for "The Best Dressed", "Best Catwalk" and "Most Holy Costume".
This is an inclusive event designed to showcase the sheer glamour of Brighton's queer community you! No discrimination will be tolerated; no racism, sexism, sizeism, homophobia or anti-trans bullsh*t. Let's show the fashion world how it’s done!
