May Half Term Children's Workshop

Clay Creatures from the Deep (5-9yrs)

Workshops (28 May 2025, 10.30am - 12.00pm)
This May Half Term, join professional artist facilitator Lynn Weddle to dive into the world of clay sculpture. Lynn will guide young participants through a hands-on exploration of the unique tactile qualities of clay as they mold and shape their very own aquatic creatures, inspired by World Oceans Day on 8 June.

Follow your imagination on a deep-sea adventure, surrounded by ambient sounds from the ocean that inspire the senses and help us to explore our creativity. Using clay and sculpture, we will make our very own creatures from the deep – will your work be inspired by sharks, sting rays, octopuses or jellyfish? The possibilities are endless.

Together we will bring our creatures to life in stunning 3D detail, crafting every feature with our own hands using clay tools and additional texture and colour from feathers, sequins and other tactile materials.

All creations will be transportable to take home. Aprons are provided.

Parents are welcome to leave their children on site - take advantage of the surrounding shops and cafes, or take a well-earned break. If you prefer, you are also welcome to stay on site at Fabrica during the session where hot drinks and snacks will be available for purchase at our in-house charity cafe.

World Oceans Day is on 8 June 2025 and is a celebration of the ocean and our continuing reliance on it. Over 70 per cent of our blue planet is covered in water, and more than half of all the oxygen we breathe comes from ocean plants.
