Exploring the connections between music, memory, identity and home, One Song brings together songs and stories shared by women with personal experience of migration or seeking sanctuary. For this iteration, Kadir has worked with members of the Brighton community to create a collective portrait of migration, belonging and the places we call home.

Each participant has chosen a song that transports them to the place they first called home. Performed in their original languages and accompanied by English subtitles, these songs carry memories across borders and generations, connecting people with places, languages and experiences that may no longer be physically present.

Through voice, melody and shared experience, One Song creates a space for listening and reflection. While every contribution is deeply personal, themes of movement, belonging, loss and connection emerge across the installation, inviting us to consider the ways music can hold memory and help us understand experiences beyond our own.

The preview will include speeches at 7pm. Fabrica’s bar will be open throughout the evening, serving a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.
