Archive Events & Talks (7 February to 8 February 2024, 6.30pm - 10.30pm)
Welcome to The Writer’s Mark – celebrate the life and works of Franz Kafka through theatre pieces and reflective surrealist installations.

Welcome to The Writer’s Mark – let’s take a trip together; a trip into the past! Let’s explore some of the most influential writer’s who have changed how we look at the world through their words and their writing style. We all have one; what’s yours?

Join us for ‘The Writer’s Mark’ launch this February – Kicking off the series is no other than arguably one of the most enigmatic writers of the 20th century… Franz Kafka. Are you a Kafka fan? Do you spend your time viewing the world upside down? Then come and join us!

When the term ‘kafkaesque’ is mentioned, many seem to recall the story of the beetle or ‘that’s that writer with a strained relationship with his father.’ For me and many others, I know Kafka relates to us all – both through his writing and his identity that forever danced between his private and public sense of ‘self.’

What to expect?

The Writer’s Mark seeks to bring a community of people together to celebrate the life and works of Franz Kafka through theatre pieces and reflective surrealist installations. Each piece is formed based on proposals from local artists and their connection to Franz Kafka. ‘The Cast’ will be performing surrealist devised works inspired by Kafka’s life – to end on a performance of extracts from Betrachtung (Contemplation). Expect puppetry, physical theatre and so much more!

Prepare to be entertained as you see within the eyes of others, both performers and artists; the legacy of Kafka living on through a different generation. The Writer’s Mark – The imprint left behind. Not to be missed!
