Want to become a renegade map-maker and put Whitehawk at the centre of the world?
Making maps has never just been just about representing the real world - what we choose to place at the centre of a map changes the way we understand the world. And now artist Dan Thompson is inviting you to make the choices, creating a giant map that explores hope, optimism, and joy - and the only thing we know is that Whitehawk will be at the centre.
Join in at two after-school sessions taking place at The Crew Club:
Wednesday 10 September, 5.30 - 7pm (for people high school age)
Thursday 11 September, 3pm - 5pm for Crew Kids (7-11 years old)
You are welcome to drop in at any time whilst these sessions are taking place.
This project is aimed at 7-16 year olds but we welcome attendees of all ages. No experience of maps - or art - needed.
“A map tells you where you’ve been, where you are, and where you’re going — in a sense it’s three tenses in one.”
