Responding to Fresh Perspectives' self-elected theme of Political Demonstration, the excerpts chosen here have been selected for their display of bold and brash visual agency, reflecting a striking parallel to the demonstrations of solidarity we still see today. Finding their origins in the landscapes of Sussex, this historic assortment of outspokenness is something the group aim to memorialise and echo within our surrounding neighbourhood. Community can carry us, as it has done many times before, through the bleak to a glimmer of peace, if only we continue to vocalise and depict its necessity.
This project was produced and curated in partnership with Screen Archive South East, who houses all of the original films in their collection.
