Events & Talks
(20 August 2020, 6.30pm - 7.30pm)
Join artists Walter & Zoniel on this online talk who will discuss their most recent project with Fabrica: 'A Simple Act of Wonder'
For a Simple Act of Wonder, artists Walter & Zoniel invite us into the lives of others, asking us to take time to get to know something about them, and in doing so examine our attitudes about other people and the mythologies or reputations that stick to some places. In this talk with images, and with reference to previous projects, the artists will discuss their love of colour, portraiture, working with humour and their boundless curiosity about human connection and our experiences of joy. The artists’ presentation will last approximately 40 minutes followed by audience Q&A
An artistic duo, Walter & Zoniel Ah have been collaborating and exhibiting internationally for over ten years. Their practice is multidisciplinary, with interactive installations and performances being just one aspect of their wide-ranging output. Themes central to their practice are a meditation upon our existence and reflection of the intricacies of the relationships we have with each other and with the natural world around us. The artists describe their approach to their work as ‘seeking to charm and entice the viewer into deeper thought and becoming present in the moment’. Walter & Zoniel have been commissioned by Tate, Somerset House, Photo London and Freize, with their site-specific installations also presented in Miami, San Francisco and Durham as part of national and international festivals and art fairs. Their work has been acquired by the National Art Collection and the National Portrait Gallery collection.
