Presented as part of International Women’s Day.
Get to know some of the inspirational and remarkable women who walked through our doors and impacted our local history.
Join seasoned tour leaders, Colette and Lucy, for a special tour inspired by research presented in Fabrica’s 'If These Walls Could Talk' publication. This research, based on local and national records of the building’s history, discovered many men’s stories but only a few women were given the chance for remembrance through the records.
These were some of the wives, daughters and congregational women who existed at the extremes of society; those who emanated from the highest echelons of nobility and wealth - to the poorest family of their time. Each story gives us a unique glimpse into their lives and history.
Colette and Lucy will be happy to answer questions and chat at the end of the tour.
Developed as part of Past:Present:Future, a Heritage Lottery funded project in which we researched the history of our 200 year old building, and presented a series of events and materials as part of this learning. Our book will be available to buy on the day in our gift shop, and is also available online.
