Wanphrang K Diengdoh is an award-winning filmmaker whose work bridges India and the UK, crafting bold, socially relevant art that challenges dominant narratives. Navigating the world with limited vision in one eye, this unique perspective informs his artistic sensibility, shaping his approach to storytelling in profound ways.
As a Khasi filmmaker from one of the world’s last remaining matrilineal societies, Diengdoh’s work is deeply rooted in indigenous knowledge systems, exploring themes of identity, post-colonialism, race, and cultural preservation. His films, photographs, installations and music highlight the tensions between tradition and modernity, displacement, and resilience, ensuring that marginalised voices are heard and histories remembered.
