Japanese Butoh-influenced dancer Yumino Seki performs with original music played live by Afrit Nebula (Elaine Edwards, Ken Edwards, Yair Katz).
"Human beings, vegetables, or cosmic dust, we all dance to a mysterious tune, intoned in the distance by an invisible piper." – Albert Einstein
Based on an original concept and musical composition by Elaine Edwards with text by Ken Edwards, the piece imagines a world spirit conjured from darkness into an exploding theatre of light. Moving images (by Mark French) are projected onto a translucent kinetic screen which provide a multi-dimensional setting for the dance. The whole performance builds to a mesmerising climax before resolving itself into the musical and visual ether.
The Spirit in the Dust lasts approximately 50 minutes, and is prefaced with a 30-minute overture performance by Afrit Nebula.
