In Between Gallery Open Call 2026

The In Between Gallery is a temporary exhibition platform for Fabrica’s picture window in central Brighton. This exciting initiative is now in its nineth year.

Fabrica is partnering with Spectrum Photographic, Photo Fringe, Jane & Jeremy and POST to present excellent photographic work by UK-based artists who consider themselves to be early to mid-career.

The window faces directly onto Duke Street, one of Brighton’s busiest pedestrianised quarters, located between The Lanes and Churchill Square, two very popular shopping destinations. The main city centre pubs and clubs are also nearby so the street is normally busy into the evening and throughout the night.

When submitting your images it is worth knowing the practical factors that will influence the panelists decision: work in a square format fits well with the shape of the window (approx 2.7m x 2.25m); images that are predominantly light or bright: the window has a light filter on it which does not favour images that are predominantly dark or black and white.

The image would be exhibited from November 2026 – April 2027, though may be occasionally removed for very short periods around Fabrica’s venue hire commitments.

Information about the selected artist and the image will be featured on the Fabrica website and via promotional materials produced by Fabrica, Photo Fringe, Spectrum, Jane & Jeremy and POST. The selected artist is also invited to produce an Instagram Take Over, and give a presentation about their work at our annual Photography Networking Event on Thursday 4 February 2027.

The selected artist will receive a fee of £350 for the exhibition of their image, presenting a talk about their work at Fabrica on the evening of Thursday 4 February 2027 and an Instagram takeover (to take place 28 January-4 February 2027. Artists travel expenses to and from Fabrica for the Photography Networking Event will be covered separately to the fee.

One artist/artist group and one image will be selected.

Open to UK residents only.
