Since Fabrica's beginning, volunteers have been integral to the organisation: bringing skills, experience, special interests, connections and different personalities and moulded Fabrica into what it is today.

Volunteers have provided us with countless hours of valued time, skills and experience. dedicated time and hard work has impacted our city in profound ways.

Our long-standing and well-developed volunteer programme offered the opportunity to become part of the front-of-house team, working in the gallery to welcome broad audiences and enhance the visitor experience. From that starting point other opportunities such as learning about creative engagement, carrying out exhibition research and interpretation, producing a creative zine, helping with events and behind-the-scenes placements in the Fabrica office.

Following the news of Arts Council England’s decision to remove the organisation from their National Portfolio from April 2023, we have had no option but to cease our large scale exhibition programme from April this year. With the curtailment of this part of our work and the staff that support it, we are therefore faced with the extremely difficult decision to end the current volunteer programme.

We are so grateful for all that our volunteers have done for Fabrica. We are signposting current volunteers to other opportunities and would like to encourage anyone in the city who is interested in Fabrica to join our mailing list to keep up to date with what's on and any future opportunities.
