Finance Manager

Fabrica is seeking a conscientious, proactive and highly organised Finance Manager to join our small, friendly team in central Brighton. This is a key role at the heart of the organisation, ideal for someone who combines strong financial expertise with a collaborative approach and a commitment to supporting a creative, community-focused charity.

Based in our beautiful Grade II* listed building in Brighton’s historic Lanes, Fabrica is a contemporary arts space where people can experience culture in unexpected ways. Through exhibitions, events, workshops, performances and community-led activity, we bring people together to explore creativity, learning and wellbeing. Alongside our public programme, we also run a busy venue hire offer and work with a wide range of partners locally and nationally.

As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day financial management of the organisation, working closely with the Director and Trustees to support financial planning, reporting and governance. You will play a central role in ensuring Fabrica’s financial systems are robust, transparent and compliant with the requirements of regulators including the Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC.

You’ll oversee management accounts, cashflow forecasting, budgets, payroll, VAT returns and year-end processes, as well as acting as the main contact for auditors. You will also support funding applications, reporting to funders, and the financial monitoring of both Fabrica and its trading subsidiary. Clear, accessible financial reporting will be a key part of your role, helping staff and Trustees make informed decisions.

Working closely with the Administrator, you will have oversight of day-to-day bookkeeping and financial processing, ensuring accurate records are maintained across income, expenditure, petty cash and banking. You will also help identify and manage financial risks, support the development of financial systems, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of policies and procedures.

This is a hands-on, strategic role suited to someone who is confident working at both operational and advisory level. You’ll need strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues. Experience in charity finance, including VAT and trading subsidiaries, is highly desirable.

If you're ready to play a central role in the financial sustainability of a respected arts organisation and community space, we’d love to hear from you.
